The BR Event are tendon boots for the front legs with a hard polyurethane shell and a soft neoprene lining. They close with hook-and-loop and a flap that keeps the hook-and-loop shut. It is the most simply built model in the BR range, and the one with the widest choice of colour: twelve of them at Maddelin.
About these tendon boots
This is the boot in the BR range with the least technology and the most colours. The build can be told in two lines: a hard polyurethane shell that lies over the tendon and around the fetlock, and inside it a neoprene lining that sits softly against the leg. No separate impact zone, no ventilation holes, no quick-release fastening. What you get for that is a boot you have on in a few seconds and simply rinse under the tap after riding.
The fastening. The Event closes with hook-and-loop and has an extra hook-and-loop flap over the top that keeps the fastenings shut, so they cannot come loose while you ride. That is the detail that makes the difference when you ride in the rain or through sand: hook-and-loop that picks itself open stays put under the flap. BR does not state how many hook-and-loop fastenings there are per size.
The fit. BR describes the Event as a boot that sits close around the fetlock. We stock three sizes: Shetland, Pony and Full. Not every colour comes in every size; most colours are there in Full.
Colour is the real argument here. BR makes the Event in more than thirty colours and carries those colours through into a saddle pad, brushing boots and an ear bonnet from the same BR Event line. We stock the boot in twelve colours: black, white, blue, navy, Dark Chocolate, Mulled Basil, Arabian Spice, Heather, Daybreak, Freesia, Florid Red and Mellow Yellow. That is enough to carry a yard colour through or to keep a second set in reserve.
What it does not do. A closed shell with a neoprene lining holds in heat and moisture; the Event has no ventilation openings, so on long summer sessions you will feel it. If you want a ventilated shell, look at the XO2 within the BR range. Besides that: a tendon boot belongs on the front legs, for the hind legs you use fetlock boots, and in the international dressage arena boots are forbidden. BR itself says nothing about competition use for this model.
